The only thing I haven't seen for myself is conflict resolution. IDEA's conflict resolution is wonderful (svn). Will have to test it a bit. ;D

The hungry backspacing is actually there in the form of holding option/alt and hitting delete. Very cool. I even like that concept better than it doing hungry backspace no matter what.

Disclaimer: I am a big Eclipse fan and use it for everything from assembler through to Erlang... I just spent 1 year developing a Java client/server project (extensible and secure casino game system) on a team using Eclipse exclusively, and we found it very solid and productive.

I believe it covers all of your points except that I've never seen "hungry backspacing" myself.

In particular the Subversion integration via Subclipse is excellent! I've been using it constantly for nearly 4 years.

After paying with it a lot I see what you mean! So far I am very impressed with it and I believe they (adobe) bastardized the hell out of flex builder. I'm going to make another post soonish to compare my experience but so far I'm very impressed!

Hi,

Of course you can do with Eclipse the four points you pointed ! I can't compare with another IDE because it's my only one (I use vim for all my other projects which don't use Java). For subversion you'll need a seperate module but It perfectly works for me.

Eclipse can do much better than that but I'm not an expert so I'll let other people to answer.

I'm starting to consider evaluating Eclipse. Lots swear by it. I found it to be lacking last time I tried it. =/

-->if you were running Coccinella on an Intel Mac, it now is much faster thanks to native Intel binaries and thus no need to f*cking slow Roseta. The switch to Tcl/Tk 8.5 also means a speed improvement of 10%.

-->improved. E.g. chasing arrows look native now, you can hide toolbars the Mac way,...

4) 'I don't know what scramble password is'

-->there now is a bug report for this to increase usability, not fixed yet

-->fixed

6) 'What is mAboutQuickTimeTcl under the main menubar entry'

-->you now can click on it and see what it can be used for

9) Logging on process too difficult

-->not fixed, increasing usability of the Login process means messing with several parts of Coccinella (Log in dialog, New Account dialog, roster maybe, Profiles dialog, etc) and that's a huge task that can take some more Coccinella releases before it is fixed

Conclusion:

'I like Coccinella, But also like other XMPP clients, there's "always something"'

-->feel free to contribute new "always somethings" to replace the fixed ones

PS: you'll love the way your transports are integrated in the new Coccinella 0.96.8

PyIRCt works for muc(channels), vcard(whois), presense(ison/notify)

There's no 'legacy roster' on IRC, so I don't see any point in full server integration like the other Openfire modules have.
